Pray continually - 1 Thessalonians 5 v7
What's 24:7 Prayer all about?
24:7 prayer is a global prayer movement started in a little town called Chichester by a guy called Pete Grieg in September 1999. They aimed to pray night and day through September but when they started they couldn't stop till Christmas!
The idea has since spread through the UK, Europe and the rest of the world, through word of mouth and books such as 'Red Moon Rising' by Pete Greig. Now there are prayer rooms everywhere, in schools, universities, police stations, seats of Government, punk festivals, naval academies, breweries, caravans, I could go on! The idea of 24:7 prayer is to have a dedicated prayer room where people sign up to do 1 hour slots throughout the day and night.
"Pray at all times, on every occasion, in every season, in the Spirit, with all manner of prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints, God's consecrated people." Ephesians 6v18
The prayer rooms are kitted out to attract people of all ages to prayer, using anything and everything to help you focus and communicate with God - paint, speak, sing, think, write, create, activities, dance, pace, use your imagination, instruments, the bible, the gifts and interests God has given you. Through prayer people experience intimacy with God, a heart for mission, salvation, healing, answers to their prayers. 24:7 prayer is away to kick start a life connected with God and responding to His voice.
